Internship Progress

I had the opportunity to observe a professional interview administered by my mentor. He had a set of great questions to gain certian information from the paricular applicant. I remember the nervous feeling I had when I interviewed for the teaching position I have now. One essential duty of the principal is to make the potential employee feel comfortable throughout the entire seesion. Making intial small talk and conducting the questioning as a conversation instead of a "drill session" helps tremendously. I also learned how to analyze non-verbal communication and draw logical conclusions from the information that was shared. It was a great experience for me in my educational growth.

  1. Wonderful! You can now mark one activity off your list! I have to go to 5th grade SSI meetings today, so I will get to mark one of my list too! I have a business background Human Resources. I loved to interview candidates. I hope you learned a lot and can use it when you become a principal.

    1. Thank you! Yes it was a great experience! I tried to soak up all I could; I also gave my principal feedback on the interview. It made me feel kind of good. :-)

  3. That is great Theresa! Its good to see both sides of an interview. I was just a nervous as you probably were.
When the principal make the person comfortable as possible it goes pretty smoothly. I am glad you got that experience and I can not wait until its my turn. I would not want to sit in there and make the person nervous.

    1. Thanks! Everyone is naturally nervous, but mine was a little extra being I've never taught before, ever. So, the principal took a chance on me. Our chance to be on the other side of the desk will come soon enough. We are all preparing for that moment...and more.
